As I sit here trying to think of something memorable to write for my first post on Blog What You Like, I must admit that I'm naive to this and still not sure what this whole blogging thing is about (but it sure makes me feel like Carrie Bradshaw writing her column for Sex and the City!). My brain keeps circling back to the struggle for balance that I am always trying to maintain in my life. I am the kind of person that likes to give 110% to all that I do. However, as a wife, Mom to 3 busy kids and a dog, and CEO of the first and only company to sell licensed apparel via the direct sales channel, it's hard to keep all the balls high in the air - or sometimes in the air at all!
So I marvel that the activities in my average day range from...prospecting for new customers and reps, pulling orders and restocking inventory and helping to negotiate prospective licensing deals to squeezing in a trip to the supermarket, making sure all my kids have what they need for various sports teams, birthday parties and playdates, taking 5 minutes to walk my dog and finding some time to do all that laundry! This type of balancing act is one that most moms perform - so I hope many of you can relate.
My blog will be a way for me to share the small details which have a big impact on my journey for balance...both personally and professionally.

- Hi, I'm Lisa Gold, CEO and founder of LikeWear. We are the first and only company focused on selling licensed apparel and accessories via the direct sales channel. I have 10 years of experience at being an at-home mom to 3 active kids (2 daughters and one son) and one extremely active yellow lab. Four years ago I added entrepreneur to my descriptor list. I started running a home-based, decorated apparel business - which began as "Good As Gold's" before evolving into LikeWear. Prior to that I spent 3 years as a cold-calling stockbroker at leading Manhattan based brokerages where I acquired my Series 7 license and opened more than 500 accounts. I began my professional career in advertising account management and spent 4 years working on the Pepsi and Visa accounts at BBDO New York, one of the world's leading advertising agencies. I went to the University of Florida in Gainesville where I got a great education as a Finance major and partied like a rock star - well, sort of!

Can a mother be more proud of a child that did not come from her womb? This mother; AKA Mother-in Law can!
I have witnessed first hand the evolvement of LikeWear from a corner of the kitchen operation to one of a large and ever expanding proportion.
With unrivaled determination and plain hard work Lisa has created (along with a behind the scenes guy with big skills; my son Ken) a successful and continually emerging business.
As devoted and involved parents they have still managed to fit it all in; from running a bustling household to maintaining an active social schedule for the kids and themselves, and entertaining family and friends of all sizes and ages, 2 legged and 4 legged.
How may people do you know that threw a backyard party for family, friends, respective children and respective dogs to celebrate Maisy’s birthday (party hats, doggie treat bags, burgers and bones??!! These are my “kids” that do it all with style, energy and creativity; the very basics that earmark success.
